Founded in 1848, the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hertford is one of the most historic congregations in eastern North Carolina.  Much history is encapsulated in its cemetery, dating from 1849.

A Guide to the Episcopal Cemetery in Hertford, North Carolina, by Raymond A. Winslow, Jr.,        preserves some interesting bits of that history.  The 68-page book includes an introduction to the cemetery, complete transcriptions of all tombstones, historical and biographical commentary, a lot-identifying map, highlights of church history, and a burial index.  Photographs of significant tombstones are included.  Among the families prominently featured in this unique book are Albertson, Blount, Edwards, Gaither, Gilliam, Gordon, Harvey, Hoskins, Jones, Leigh, McMullan, Newbold, Nixon, Skinner, and Winslow.

The soft-cover book sells for $10:00 per copy (plus $1.50 per copy for shipping and handling).  Books may be purchased through the church office (252 426-5542) and during coffee hour each Sunday.  Sale proceeds go towards the preservation and beautification of the cemetery.
